ASB Unitholders Get 8.8% Dividend & Bonus for 2011

Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) unitholders will receive a dividend of 7.65 sen and a bonus 1.15 sen per unit for the financial year ending 31st December 2011. This brings a total of 8.8 sen distribution income for year 2011.

This dividend is 1.5 sen higher compared to 7.50 sen declared last year. However, the bonus is 0.1 sen lower than the amount declared in 2010, at 1.25 sen.

Currently, there are 7.3 million ASB unitholders who collectively hold over 95.9 billion of ASB units.

The dividend involved a total payout of RM7.04bil and the bonus portion of RM628.29mil For 2011, ASB registered a gross income of RM7.19bil

Dividend income from investee companies contributed RM4.09bil, or 56.9%, of the gross income and profit from the sale of shares contributed RM2.25bil or 31.3%. The remaining 11.8%, or RM0.85bil, was derived from investment in short-term instruments and other investments.

The income distribution and bonus would be automatically credited into the respective unitholder’s account. Unitholders could update their accounts beginning 3rd January 2012 at ASNB branches or agents nationwide.

All ASB transactions will be suspended starting from 21st December 2011 to 2nd January 2012 to facilitate the calculation of income distribution and bonus.
