RHB Bank is having a new campaign where all RHB Credit Cards holders can get up to 10% cash back on petrol spending at Petronas, Shell, BHP, Esso, Mobil and Caltex petrol stations.
The campaign will ends on 3rd July 2010. The cash back is capped at a maximum of RM60 per month, per card holder. All cash back will be credited into Principal Card holders account & will be reflected in the monthly statement.
Card holders will be rewarded with up to 10% cash back on all petrol spend, as below
- 10% cash back on petrol spend during 1st weekend of the month
- 5% cash back on petrol spend during 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th (if any) weekends of the month
- 2% cash back on petrol spend on weekdays (Mondays – Fridays)
It seem to be a nice campaign but actually there is a catch. Cash back on petrol is only awarded on 20% of total monthly retail spending.
What it means is that, to get cash back from RM100 petrol spend per month, you have to spend RM500 on retail purchase. If you only spend on petrol, no rebate for you.
Monthly retail spend includes retail purchases, petrol, utilities, dining and travel expenditure (normal & installment payment plan). Not applicable for Cash Advance & Balance Transfer.

The fact that there is a catch to making the petrol rebate a reality goes on to show that RHB is half-hearted in giving the petrol rebates in the first place. Hmmmph!
