For year 2010, Employees Provident Fund declared 5.80 percent dividend. For the same period, more than 6 million individuals were active EPF members with total combined savings of RM298.8 billion excluding 2010 dividend. Total savings including inactive members was at RM440.5 billion.

Wow if this report is true it would mean that all the statistics given about low earning malaysians are crap, because by my calculations it looks like more than 50% of contributors have income exceeding RM70K per annum (approx USD 24K).
It also shows that about 20% of all contributors earn an annual income of more than RM300K p.a.
Amazing how many rich Malaysians there are. No wonder properties seem to be selling like hot cakes despite the absurd prices and the inflation of other essential items do not seem to bother the general public.
BTW I mind since I fall within the upper 50% of lower contributors.

THL, the data is cumulative from day one for each contributor not 2010 contribution alone.
