American Express “15% Cash Back” Campaign

In conjunction with its 50th anniversary, Maybank as a licence holders of AMEX cards in Malaysia, is having a campaign where AMXE card holders will enjoy 15% cash back at all American Express Card accepting merchants in the selected malls. However, supermarkets/hypermarkets, hotels & their F&B outlets located in selected malls are excluded.

This promotion is similar 15% cash back campaign by American Express last year. The promotion is valid until 28 February 2011. All American Express Cards (Credit & Charge) issued by Maybank and Maybank Islamic are eligible to enjoy this promotion. However American Express Corporate Cards are not eligible.

To participate, you have to register your AMEX card via SMS. To register, send SMS through your mobile number by typing “Cashback {space} 15-digits card no” to 62628.

The Cash Back is capped at RM150 per Customer (Principal Cardmember) per month, and subject to a maximum payout of RM1,000,000 for all Cardmembers per calendar month, whichever is earlier, and based on first come, first served basis. There is no minimum transaction to benefit from this offer.

The 15% cash back is in addition to the generic TreatsPoints or Membership Rewards Points, and over & above discounts or savings offered by Participating Merchants.

  • Another “not sincere” payout by a credit card company. RM150 per customer at cashback rate of 15% means only apply to the first spending of RM1000.00 at those “selected” shopping malls. Worse still, every month on average only the first 1000 customers nationwide are able to “fight” for the total rebate of RM1 million. They are being “rushed” into spending, most of the time under unwise decisions.
