Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) was issuing 2 new Commemorative Coins in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Bunga Raya as the National Flower and 125th Anniversary of Jabatan Ukur Dan Pemetaan Malaysia. Both Commemorative Coins issued on 30th September 2010 and 14th October 2010 respectively.
Three types of commemorative coins issued by BNM on respective anniversary. They are as below,
Gold Commemorative Coin (proof)
This proof coin is made of gold with 999.9 purity and weighs 7.96 grams. It has a face value of RM100 and will be sold at RM1,200 a piece. The mintage quantity is limited to 150 pieces for each anniversary.
Silver Commemorative Coin (proof)
This proof coin is made of Sterling silver with 92.5 purity and weighs 21.00 grams. It has a face value of RM10 and will be sold at RM150 a piece. The mintage quantity is limited to 400 pieces for 50th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Bunga Raya as the National Flower and 300 pieces for 125th Anniversary of Jabatan Ukur Dan Pemetaan Malaysia
Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated (B.U) Commemorative Coin
The Nordic Gold (B.U) coin has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at RM10 each. The mintage quantity is 10,000 pieces for each anniversary.
These commemorative coins are also available in a set of 3 and a set of 2. The Set of 3 consists of the gold, silver and Nordic gold proof coins. The Set of 2 consists of the silver and Nordic gold proof coins.
For 50th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Bunga Raya as the National Flower Commemorative Coins, set of 3 will be sold at RM1,450 per set with only 300 sets available. Set of 2 will be sold at RM200 per set with only 600 sets available.
125th Anniversary of Jabatan Ukur Dan Pemetaan Malaysia Commemorative Coins, set of 3 will be sold at RM1,450 per set with only 250 sets available. Set of 2 will be sold at RM200 per set with only 200 sets available.
These commemorative coins are minted and distributed by Bank Negara Malaysia and will be available for sale at Bank Negara Malaysia’s headquarters and its branches located in Pulau Pinang, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
Coins collectors, better be hurry as the mint quantity is limited.
