Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is issuing special Commemorative Coins which is available for sale starting 16th June 2010.

If you are coins collector, this is a good news for you. You need to react fast as the coins are only available in limited quantity and sold on first come first serve basis.

A commemorative coin is a legal tender coin issued by the Bank to commemorate a specific and significant occasion, outstanding person or place or to mark the anniversary of an historic event.

The following coins are available for sales.

2009 The 75th Royal Malaysian NAVY Anniversary Bank Negara Malaysia has issued three types of commemorative coins to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Royal Malaysian Navy. These commemorative coins were launched by H.R.H the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Al-Haj, the Captain-in-Chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy, at the Royal Malaysian Naval Base in Lumut, Perak.
International Year of Astronomy 2009 Bank Negara Malaysia has issued three types of commemorative coins in conjunction with the global celebration of the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009). These commemorative coins were launched by YB Dato’ Dr. Maximus Ongkili, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, at the Planetarium Negara, Kuala Lumpur.
2008 100th Anniversary of St. John Ambulance of Malaysia Bank Negara Malaysia has issued three types of commemorative coins to mark the centennial of the establishment of St.John Ambulance of Malaysia (SJAM). The commemorative coins were launched by YB Dato’ Liow Tiong Lai, the Minister of Health at his office in Kuala Lumpur.
50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Royal Malaysian Air Force Bank Negara Malaysia has issued three types of commemorative coins to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF). The commemorative coins, launched by H.R.H the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’In Billah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar Ri’Ayatuddin Al-Mu’Adzam Shah, who is the Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, was held at the Royal Malaysian Air Force Base in Subang.
2006 50th Years of Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) In conjunction with the Federal Land Development Authority’s (FELDA) 50 th anniversary, Bank Negara Malaysia has issued a set of three commemorative coins that highlight the significant role and contribution of FELDA in improving the standard of living and quality of life of its settlers. The commemorative coins also pay tribute to its founder, Malaysia’s second Prime Minister known as the father of development for his contributions in the area of national and rural development, the late Tun Abdul Razak bin Dato’ Hussein .
2005 Islamic Development Bank (IDB) 30th Annual Meeting 2005 Bank Negara Malaysia has issued three commemorative coins in conjunction with The Islamic Development Bank 30th Annual Meeting 2005 (IDB). It was launched on 24 June 2005 at Putrajaya Convention Centre.
2001 21st Sea Games Bank Negara Malaysia has issued three types of legal tender commemorative coins to mark the XXI SEA Games 2001, held from 8 – 17 September 2001.
1992 Ordinary uncirculated Coin Sets (OUCS) Bank Negara Malaysia has issued the Ordinary Un-circulated Coins Set (OUCS). The OUCS consists of coins in the denomination of 1 Sen, 5 Sen, 10 Sen, 20 Sen, 50 Sen and the demonetized RM1 coin to be sold as a souvenir / collector item. The OUCS is priced at RM10 per set or RM15 for 2 sets.
