2011 Forbes Asia’s Fab 50, AP Best Listed Companies


The Forbes Asia’s Fab 50 is an annual ranking of the best of Asia-Pacific’s (AP) biggest listed companies. The ranking was first published in 2007.

The ranking is based on the following criteria,

  • at least US$3 billion in revenue or market capitalization.
  • five-year track record for revenue, operating earnings, return on capital, recent results, share-price movements, and finally outlook.
  • does not have too much debt.
  • less than 50 percent government owned.

In the ranking, there are only one(1) Malaysian company listed namely Axiata. There is none  Malaysian company in the list in 2010.

Bank Persatuan Raise Maximum Investment Limit for 2011


Following the recent dividend announcement of 6.5 percent for 2010, Bank Persatuan also decided to increase the maximum investment limit for 2011.

During their board meeting last December, the limit for was reduced to RM2,000 individual & RM20,000 for co-operative members. However, starting August 2011, the limit is increased again.

Below are the details on the new limits.

Existing members

  • Individual members allow to invest additional RM20,000 on top of existing share.
  • Co-operative members allow to invest additional RM100,000 on top of existing share.

Have you Redeem Energy-Efficient Appliances Rebate (SAVE)?

As highlighted earlier regarding SAVE programme, consumers will be able to redeem up to RM200 for newly purchase five-star energy efficient Appliance.

For the time being, end user can redeem rebate for refrigerator & air conditional. For business rebate is available for newly purchase chillers.

The rebate program started on July 7, 2011 and will end until all rebates are taken at the end of 2011. Rebates will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to qualified domestic consumers.

What is Investment Objective?

According to investment dictionary, “investment objective” is financial goal or goals of an investor. It will guides an investor to decide where to invest his or her money.

Normally, unit trusts or mutual fund describes its investment objective clearly in its prospectus. They also will identify the strategy the fund manager follows to meet that objective. Investors often look for funds whose stated objectives are compatible with their own goals.

2011 FT Global 500 & Ranking for Malaysian Companies

FT

The FT (Financial Times) Global 500 is an annual ranking of the top 500 public companies in the world features in Financial Times. The ranking was first published 15 years ago.

The companies are ranked by market capitalisation. The greater the stock market capitalization, the higher its ranking. Market capitalisation is the share price on 31st March 2011 multiplied by the number of shares issued. The figures were converted into a common currency to allow comparison.

For 2011 ranking, there are 2 Malaysian companies listed.
