Bank Persatuan Declared 6.50% Dividend for 2010


Recently, Bank Persatuan declares 6.5 percent dividend to its members for financial year end 31st December 2010. The dividend rate for 2010 was the lowest ever. Previously, the dividend always stay at least 10 percent per year.

For individual members, dividend will be paid by cash at any Bank Persatuan branches nationwide starting 25th August 2011 until 26th September 2011.  Meanwhile, individual members who earn more than RM5,000 in dividend and co-operative members, dividend will be paid by cheque.

ASW2020 Unitholders Get 6.5 sen Dividend for 2011

Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB), announced a dividend of 6.5 sen per unit for the Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020 for the financial year ending 31st August, 2011.

The dividend is an increase of 0.15 sen per unit compared with the 6.35 sen dividend given in 2010. Kindly refer to “Historical ASW2020 Dividend Rate” for previous year dividend.

The dividend will involve a payout of RM909.05 million. The figures is 17.72 percent higher than the payment of RM772.19 made in 2010.

As at Aug 15, 2011, ASW 2020 registered a gross income of RM1.158 billion.

2011 Top 50 World’s Most Profitable Companies by Fortune Magazine

Recently, we look at Fortune Global 500, world’s largest companies by revenue as compiled and published annually by Fortune magazine on 25th July 2011

In the same list, Fortune Magazine also list out top 50 world’s most profitable companies. The first spot was claimed by Nestlé of Switzerland with more than $32 billion in profit from $105 billion revenue.

Malaysia national oil company, Petronas at 11th  position with more than $17 billion profits from $76.9 billion revenue. The profit increased by 50% when compared to 2009.

New 2011 (2), Up to 12% Cash Rebate with Public Bank Credit Card

Public Bank has a new credit card promotion called “Spend For More Rewards with PB Credit Card Promotion”. Under this promotion, cardholders will earn up to 12% cash rebate on spending made with Public bank credit cards.

This is the continuation of the first promotion early this year. The criteria is also similar.

This promotion is valid from 1st August 2011 to 31th December 2011. During this promotion a total RM2.5 million cash back to be won by cardholders. This translate to RM500,00 cash back per month.

Under this promotion, cardholders who swipe at least 12 times per month will entitle for 12% cash rebate while cardholders who swipe at least 8 times per month will entitle for 8% cash rebate. All the spending must be in single receipt with minimum of RM80.

What is Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Credit Ratings

Currently, there are three (3) major credit rating agencies in the world. They are Fitch Ratings, Moody’s & Standard & Poor’s.  Fitch Ratings & Standard & Poor’s are using the same scale from AAA to D which first introduced in 1924.

S&P credit ratings are the agency’s forward-looking opinions about credit risk. It measures about the ability and willingness of an issuer, such as government, to meet its financial obligations in full and on time.

The ratings are based on analysis on economic and financial condition and as well as financial history of borrowing and repayment

Credit ratings are important for countries as they seek international funding for development and any downgrade would mean higher borrowing costs. For the investors, credit ratings is used in making investment decisions.
