Up to 6% Cash Rebate with HSBC Amanah MPower Visa Platinum


HSBC Amanah has a new credit card promotion where MPower Visa Platinum Credit Card-i card holders will earn up to 6% cash back on petrol and groceries spending.

On top of that card holders also will earn 1% cash rebate on all retail overseas spending and 0.5% on other other retail spending.

This promotion is valid from 7th July 2011 to 31st December 2011. All MPower Visa Platinum Credit Card-i card holders are eligible. No registration is required.

EPF Top 30 Equity Investments in Bursa Malaysia, Q2 2011

Every 3 months since March 2010, EPF reveals its top 30 equity investments in Bursa Malaysia. The aim for this is to promote greater transparency and to reassure members that investment undertaken are in the best interest of growing their retirement savings and in accordance to best practices in investment and governance.

When compared to the data for March 2011, it seems that EPF trim its holding in many big companies such as Sime Darby Maybank maybe for profit taking.

OSK Plantation Sector Stock Picks, Aug 2011

Despite stockpile rising above the 2m-tonne mark, OSK is not overly concerned as they believe that most of the contributing factors are already known and may have been factored into the decline in palm oil price from RM3,963 per tonne in Feb 2011 to a low of RM3,016.

OSK suspects that inventory may fall back promptly due to supply disruption in 2H. With palm oil now trading at a significant USD210 per tonne discount to soybean oil, there is plenty of room for palm oil price to move higher when supply disruption materializes in the months ahead. Maintain Neutral on the sector, with a positive near term outlook.

Malaysia Labour Force & Unemployment Rate

Unemployment

From 1982 until 2011, Unemployment Rate for Malaysia had an averaged of 4.04 percent, reaching an historical high of 7.40 percent in 1986 and a record low of 2.50 percent in 1996 & 1997. Since 1998, unemployment rate ranging between 2 to 3 percent & stay below average.

The labour force is defined as the number of people employed plus the number unemployed but seeking work. The nonlabour force includes those who are not looking for work, those who are institutionalised and those serving in the military.
