Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) is a state-owned investment fund composed of financial assets such as stocks, bonds, real estate, precious metals, or other financial instruments.

The funds assets are coming from balance of payments surpluses, official foreign currency operations, the proceeds of privatizations, fiscal surpluses, and from commodity exports.

Foreign currency reserve assets held by monetary authorities, state-owned enterprises, government-employee pension funds, and assets managed for the benefit of individuals are not categorized as a sovereign wealth fund.

Historical ASD Dividend Rate Since 2002


ASD

Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) through Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad, launched Amanah Saham Didik (ASD) fund on the 20th of April 2001. The fund objective is to provide investment opportunity that generates reasonable long-term growth and return.

ASD is a equity growth fund with fixed-price at RM1.00 per unit. The allocated fund size is 4.5 billion units and it is open to all Malaysian Bumiputera. It is also eligible for EPF withdrawal.

The table below is the historical dividend rate since the fund was launched in 2001. However, the first dividend payment is made in 2002. This table is no longer maintained, for the latest dividend rate kindly refer to this page.

Stock Pick – 10 Counters to Watch in 2010

Every beginning of the year The Edge Malaysia, make a recommendation on the counters to Watch for that year. This year, they recommend 10 counters to look into based on companies fundamental and share price valuation.

Before we see the 2010 list, we look at the performance of their 2009 stock pick. In 2009, The Edge recommend 20 counters in their watch list. Overall the The Edge stock picks in 2009 outperformed Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) with an average gain of 68% versus 45% gain for KLCI.
